Secretary's Report
  • Hawkesbury have requested that their Douglass team be re-graded to Leonard North. For a number of reasons (mainly the ramifications of doing so on the rest of the age-group), this is impractical and was denied.
  • Washout and midweek games were discussed. Deadlines were set to complete the washouts, which are 29/1/06 for games scheduled on 26/11/05, and 7/2/06 for games scheduled at Castle Glen on 3/12/05. Twilights are to be played by February 14th, 2006.
  • Youth League games scheduled for Sutton will now be played at 5:30pm on Fridays
  • Future Hills meetings will be preceeded by a written Agenda in an attempt to streamline the dealing with business on the night. Recent meetings have dealt with issues at one meeting, only to have the same issue raised at the following one because clubs did not have adequate time to address the matters internally.
  • The League is investigating the purchase of training equipment: a whiffle ball tosser (I kid you not:- that's what they're called) and a pitching machine.
  • The Summer Development programme running on Mondays and Fridays has been well supported:- over 20 players attend.
  • Judiciary/Disciplinary Issues:-
    - Ejection in Cashmore last weekend
    - Report of poor behaviour and lack of respect for an umpire in another game
    - Complaint by Ryde about umpire's dress standards in the last representative round at Bensons Lane.
  • Report received about a Ryde coach "sledging" one of our 15-year-old players. Hills will be complaining to NSWBL.
  • Rep team progress discussed.
  • The Executive will recommend that, next season and beyond, players' attitudes and commitment will become the prime selection criteria, ranking ahead of ability.
  • Mid-season transfer of a player from Kellyville to Hawkesbury has been (reluctantly) approved. This is not policy and is highly unusual.
  • Hills failed to supply any helpers for the NSWBL All-Star day, which may involve a fine of $200.
  • Two five-day campps will be offered in January. Details tabled.
  • Winter Development Programmes:- preliminary information tabled ...
    - Academy-style programme for players U/16 in 2006/7, by invitation.
    - U/12s in some format, possibly different to prior years. Focus is on prospective rep 2006/7 players
    - Players will not be allowed to participate in both NSW and Hills programmes. This is a waste of resources and overloads the children in the off-season
  • Hills 21 programme introduced
  • Hills internal boundaries - memo distributed by email previously.
  • Paul Eaton passed away a fortnight ago. His benefit day at Castle Hill was a huge success
  • Rumours are about alleging that a club coach is playing "ring-ins". If proven, the situation will be dealt with using the full wrath of the Executive.
  • Castle Hill responded to Baulkham Hills' complaint about an umpire.
  • BNSW is canvassing a change from the Kenko ball in U/12 rep competitions. They trialled an 8.5" hard ball in the All Star fixture. Hills do not support any change from the Kenko ball.
  • More rumours about a change to bat sizes are also doing the rounds. Nothing substantive tabled.
  • NSWJBL is offering a Jugs pitching machine for sale. Contact NSWJBL or John Yard.
  • Kellyville will, by invitation from Council, be supporting the BHSC Australia Day function.

NSWJBL Report ...
  • 2006 is the Year Of Exchange, celebrating 30 years of co-operation with Japan. IBA has applied to the Japanese and Australian governments to recognise our activites.
  • NSWJBL has provided a replacement Br Lambert Shield to BNSW.
  • NSWJBL is further investigating recovery of monies due from Darren Dawes.
  • Photographs taken at the filming of the New Balance advertisement at BOP wew placed on the NSWJBL website. Participants were well remunerated.
  • Requests from St Louis and Canberra U/12 teams to visit Sydney were tabled.
  • Insurance can be arranged if needed through NSWJBL.
  • The BNSW Try Baseball report did not provide any new information of use to members.

BNSW Junior League Standing Committee (JLSC) Report ...
  • Vicki Aird (Baulko) is the new Minutes Secretary of the JLSC
  • Pitching rules have been altered again, this time removing the weekend limit..

Treasurer's Report
  • Statement of Financial Position tabled and accepted.
  • Accounts for payment approved.
  • It is expected that The League will trade this year at breakeven or a small loss.
  • Proposal that the club of any player owing money or equipment will be ineligible to participate in the Finals. Approved

President's Report
  • In Mr Schmidt's absence, Mr Yard reported that we are still working toward formalising internal boundaries for next season. Feedback on the discussion paper previously provided was again requested.
  • Hills will celebrate 21 years in 2006 and volunteers are required for an organising committee. An appropriate notice is on our website.

General Business ...
  • Mr Yard thanked Stan Blundell for his efforts to get Ashley Brown in shape for an Association Cup game on December 5th. It took a lot of effort after heavy rain earlier in the week.
  • Castle Hill reported that the fundraising day for Paul Eaton was a huge success. Knights Field was full, Winston Hills supported the day, and over $11,500 was raised for the Cancer Council.
  • It was reported that Cashmore games played at Laybutt were [incorrectly] at full distances (60'6" and 90').
  • Winston Hills advised that their U/8 gala day was washed out and will be rescheduled for February. 10 teams nominated.
  • Mr Hook advised that there was a question asked of a NSWBL Director (D Hansell) at the last Sydney Winter meeting, regarding when a $99 fee for debt recovery would cease. There was no answer.
  • Baulkham Hills advised that the club would host a round of the Claxton Shield on January 24th (WA vs Vic), and invited spectators. Gold coin donation to enter. Illawarra, Macarthur and Manly are also hosting rounds in a new move by the ABF to take the sport to more venues.
  • It was resolved that Catt & Kelly conferences will stay with teeball after Xmas, and that Daisley conference will stay with modball, both for the remainder of the season.

NEXT MEETING is February 14th at the Baulkham Hills Sporting Club, 7:30pm.
